This talented group of volunteer youth leaders are the YAC Team. Without their hard work and dedication, much of what happens in the BYIC wouldn't come about. They're the ones behind the curtain, pulling the levers, making the show spectacular, if you will. The next time you happen to be around one of these fine folks, give them a high-5 or a big hug and tell them thank you.

  • Luke Dowdy | Berlin Brethren Church (Pennsylvania)

Luke is a full-time Student and Worship Pastor at the Berlin Brethren Church and his wife, Amanda, works alongside him as a volunteer youth worker and full-time shenanigan-mediator. They have been serving in Berlin since 2010. They have two children, Isaac and Hadassah, who love science experiments, Legos, and tea parties.

Luke is a lifelong Pittsburgh Pirates fan, outdoorsman, avid board game junkie, and movie critic. Most of all, Luke’s passion is Jesus Centered Youth ministry, which explores ways to read the entire Bible through the lens of the person and work of Jesus. The Bible is not a loose connection of unrelated stories. Everything either prepares the way for Jesus or explains how to process and live in light of what he did on the cross.

  • Winter Lawson | College Corner Brethren (Indiana)

Winter is currently chasing after Jesus by writing and encouraging women on her blog. After almost 10 years in volunteer youth ministry, God has called her out of ministry in the church and into new territory. She married her high school sweetheart 15 years ago, he is the calm to her crazy! They have two children Brandon, a 12 year old lovable goofy pre-teen and Rachel, an 8 year old spirited ball of sunshine.

Winter's perfect day would include sleeping in, coffee with her best girlfriends and a rousing game of Uno with her family, while eating chocolate cake. She is passionate about sharing the love of Jesus with others, to help them see God where they are. She wants to inspire them by the way she lives, to boldly step out of their comfort zones and do what He is calling them to do.

  • Sara Moore | St. James Brethren Church (Maryland)

Sara serves as the Director of Christian Education at St. James Brethren Church and for the past 8 years oversees the Youth and Children's ministries as well as many of the behind the scenes operations at SJBC. Sara and her husband, Brad, love spending time with their two children Eli and Emily as well as their dog, Charlie

Sara enjoys a good cup of coffee with her conversations, watching her favorite soccer team (Liverpool), new sock day, clean sheets and playing in the garden. Growing up in the Brethren Church, Sara has experienced the lifelong impact BYIC has on its youth. She is passionate about helping others pursue an authentic relationship with Jesus and who He created them uniquely to be.
